The Stargate

STARGATE MOVIE A doorway to another world is found buried in the sands of Egypt, further research reveals that the symbols when dialled in different combinations lead to many other destinations, an intrepid team of travellers journey to another planet and discover a civilisation who derived from people enslaved from Earth by a parasitic life form, the Goa'uld. The team led by Air Force Colonel Jack O'Neill, who is verging on the unstable after his son killed himself with Jack's gun, encounter a being whom the natives of the planet regard as Ra, the Sun God, who travels between the stars in a space ship shaped like an ancient pyramid. With orders to detonate a bomb if they encounter a potential threat to Earth, the team find themselves in difficulty when they are unable to find a symbol to allow them to get home and the bomb is taken by Ra who intends to send the bomb back to Earth with a mineral that will make 100 times more powerful than an atomic bomb.

The film starred Kurt Russellkurt russell as Col. Jack O'Neill and James Spader james spader walking thru stargateas Daniel Jackson the language expert who deciphered the symbols on the Stargate which allows them to travel.

The T.V. Series, Stargate S.G.1, stars Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O'Neill with Michael Shanks as Daniel Jackson, Amanda Tapping as Captain Samantha Carter, Christopher Judge as Teal'c and Don S. Davis as General George Hammond, relates further stories of the team and a warrior who defects from the rule of the Goa'uld, Teal'c, who carries a larval Gou'ald inside him which gives him immunity to some of the dangers they encounter.
